I'm sick

Something that hasn’t happened to me in a long time has taken me out of action. I am sick.

Medicine has made significant advances since the before great quakes, but as ever, new viruses develop and spread and adapt. One thing science should have locked down by now is the common cold. I have it. I have the runny nose, the coughing, congestion the sneezing… the works.

It is at times like this I wonder why science hasn’t developed better ways of dealing with it. Antibiotics have no effect, and there is still no appropriate anti-viral medication.

Of course, the twins freaked, and all but quarantined my room. I’m surprised they’re not moving around the apartment in hazmat suits, although they do have face masks. Idiots.

Thankfully, Miro is a kind and considerate friend. She brought me a soup, saying that Chicken Soup used to be what they would give people with the cold, so Ralm and her came up with a modern alternative. Trust Miro to approach an illness academically. She stayed for a while and we talked about the bomb scare. She seemed to be doing okay with it, and she said that the Tosadae Security people let her go without too much fuss.

I’ll be bedridden for a while. I guess now would be a good time to catch up on some reading. The problem is, I just want to flick on the Holoscreen and watch some mindless TV.
