Finishing off the Assignment

Posted on October 18, 2008 @ 09:14PM

I was meeting Miro to go and watch Kam and Derf participate in the qualifying rounds for the Advanced Flight Tournament.

Before that though, I had to finish off my assignment on the architecture and archaeology of the Tosadae campus. I made sure I took out any references to the individual building control boxes, because well, it wasn’t really necessary, and because I didn’t really want anyone to trace the information back to find that I had disabled the power in part of my building. I don’t regret doing it, but I’ve never really done anything like that before, and had no desire to find out what the consequences would be. Power had been restored, but I was happy to find out that the other members of the building were responsible enough to lodge formal complaints about the people having the party, and they had been banned from any other events in the future.

The assignment turned out to be a huge effort. When Tosadae was first discovered on the newly risen continent of Mu, the Celian buildings had remnants of their technology which were removed an put in storage. They were taken for study in a purpose-built research area. Not much had been produced on these as the majority of Celian research was undertaken at the Orbis temple on Atlantia. I don’t mean to think so darkly, but I didn’t expect any insights to be coming out of there for the forseeable future. Anyway. The major part of archaeology is interpretation, but if you don’t have data to draw upon, you can’t make interpretations. My assignment instead was a review of how the Celian buildings had been gutted of the prehistoric technology we couldn’t use, and the buildings were converted into Halls, Auditoriums, Dorms and Class Rooms based on how appropriate their morphology. I also decided to chuck in something about the Tosadae gnorb, but only in very general terms. I finished of the assignment, and checked all of the references and proof read it. I find it really difficult to re-read my own work, but I didn’t have time to get someone else to do it. Maybe I’ll ask Miro next time, she’s the academic type, and I’ve read her stuff and it’s good. I guess she’d have to be if she was expected to produce a book.

By the time I finished I was completely worn out. I hope nothing too eventful happens at this tournament.
